Round 1 of the Tasmanian Rally Championship - Mountain Stages was held on the 11th May in the Roses Tier - Mathinna area. There were 13 entries entered in the TRC, with all but 2 cars finishing the 10 Special Stages. Congratulations to 2001 Champions Andrew Murfet & Will Logan (Nissan Pulsar GTi-R) taking the round 1 win by 55 sec over Mark Walkden & Tony Jackson in the ex-Michael Guest Mistubishi Lancer Evo 5. This was a terrific effort as Walkden stepped in the car for the first time for this rally. Finishing third were the Vandenberg brothers Jamie & Simon in a Lancer Evo 3. Run in conjunction with the TRC event and held over 7SS was the Mountain Stages Club event, won by Walkden & Jackson who had cross entered for both events.
